Year 7 UNESCO Visit

HiYa! It’s Georgina and Ella here!

Yesterday we went on a UNESCO trip (UNESCO stands for United Nations Educational Scientific Cultural Organisation) We went to St James school and helped film their preparation for a Kids Can Cook competition.

They prepared a welcoming Ceremony and let’s just say… WOW,  It was amazing and included the Samoan and Maori cultures as they sang songs in those languages, lots of different children sang solos.( There is such a musical talent at that school) There was this one child who was only 7 yrs old and she left us speechless… just think when she’s a superstar on TV in 10 years time we are all going to go: “Hey, that’s that kid that sang for us ten years ago! Wow, she is even more amazing now… how is that even possible???!!!” See we told this school had the X - factor, didn’t we ? ( Rhetorical question )

They made us lamb wraps for lunch (which is what they are cooking for the Ellerslie competition) they are delicious wraps with a twist. Because their school is 95% Samoan they decided to make a healthy Samoan dish. It included peanuts, lamb, salad, chilli and lettuce. They put all the fillings in the lettuce  and wrapped the lettuce up. Cecilia and Prescott (the kids that are doing the competition) taught us how to make the wraps which was really cool! They were eager to share their cooking skills with us, which was great that they showed so much enthusiasm!

All in all, the day was lovely and the school had a fun, bouncy atmosphere and the kids were all eager to get involved and meet us. It was nice seeing the contributing factors to make the Salad wraps so lick-your-lips-delicious and seeing how much the school was involved with their gardens.

It was a Great day! Thank you St James.
